Phillis, this female Miniature Schnauzer was named after Phillis Wheatley, an African American poet & slave. Despite her challenges, she was educated & became the first African American woman to publish a book of poetry in 1773. Her work gained international recognition and supported by George Washington. Phillis, the Schnauzer is unique as well. She adapts well to new surroundings and is waiting to go to her forever home
